Insecurities đŸ„ŽđŸ«”đŸ˜ž

“Your fat!” “Ew! Look at her nose.” “Oh, you’re
 tall
” “Stop being so crazy.” “Your laugh is so loud!” “You have such a
 unique
 look
” CAN WE STOP!!! Ahhhhhhhh!!! I HATE IT! The world is so loud! Like come on!!! If you’re here, I wish you weren’t. This is for the girls. The girls who have watched all the “Glow up tips!” TikToks. Hours watching YouTube videos on “How to actually glow up this summer!” “This is what the boys want
” “Workouts to get you snatched!” “How to become THAT girl in ONE night!” I know you’ve heard this before, but I want you to repeat each and every word THREE times! It. Is. All. Fake. Did you hear me? FAKE!!!!!!!!! Ok, now that we have addressed that, I want to help you.

THE START

I want you to name all your insecurities. I pray you only have one, but let’s be honest with ourselves. What’s that one you think about every day? What I don’t want you doing right now is making them up. Example
“I definitely don’t like my weight, but I think I’m too quiet too. My acne is kinda bad, oh wait, my style is boring also
” Do. Not. Do. That.

You named them right? Ok, good. Now I want you to find where they came from. Were you bullied about it? Compared yourself? Seen ads about how to fix it
like Ozempic
 or
Botox??? If you don’t know where it came from, then there is no point in not liking that part of you.

THE PROGRESS

Now I need you to ask yourself “Can I realistically change this about myself?” The answer would be no if it’s genetic, part of your personality, it’s healthy, or you do it naturally (like having a loud laugh, etc
). The answer would be yes if you have a bad odor, your hair is up but you have the option to put it down, you don’t like your makeup routine
things you can change within a day.

If you can realistically change these things, then DO IT!!! But for the girls that can’t change their bone size (sorry world 😉) or their DNA stores fat in the thighs and belly other than the rear end, WHY IN THE WORLD SHOULD THEY CARE!!! It’s not like a makeup smudge they can just wipe away! But yet humankind treats them like it’s that easy.

THE FINISH

If “the popular pretty girl” says “You should get a nose job” DO NOT DO IT! At that point you’re trying to please the world not the God that literally took 9 MONTHS to create the amazing you. You see how I didn’t say perfect, yeah, that’s because that word is only for God. The world says everyone should be perfect and that they are perfect but according to the Bible it states in Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 20 “Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.”. Now don’t get me wrong! Your body is perfect. Your personality is perfect. But your actions are not always going to be perfect.

A good truth is that everyone around you is thinking about what others think about them. That’s confusing so here’s an example.. You walk into a coffee shop and there’s a girl who has an iced matcha, clean girl makeup, no acne, on her computer studying, “perfect” outfit, and smells like a vanilla brown sugar fireplace. You think “Wow. I want to do that! All I do is study in my pajamas on my bed at 11:59 pm.” What you don’t know is that she hates school, finals are in a week, she has 2 late assignments, and she doesn’t even like what she’s majoring in. Depressing right? Yeah..

I want you to remember that Jesus was a P.E.R.F.E.C.T. man, and people still hated Him , still mocked Him, still went behind His back, and still crucified Him. No matter how much you work out, no matter how much you change your makeup, no matter how much you diet, no matter how much you change your clothes, no matter how much you retake a selfie or video, no matter how much you stop laughing, no matter how much you start laughing, there is going to be something the world says is wrong with you! I. Hate. It. It’s satan! The only way we can overcome our insecurities (aka satan) is by embracing Gods creation (aka you!). Lastly, would you ever tell your younger self that they’re ugly and weird?

HOME WORK

1. Pray every day this week that you will overcome that insecurity.

2. Stand in front of a mirror—no matter how uncomfortable it feels— say you love every single one of your insecurities. Example
“I love my weight, I love my nose, I love my height, I love my craziness, I love my laugh, I love my style
” Even if you hate all those things about yourself, still say them! I’m not a firm believer in the whole “fake it till you make it” thing, but it is acceptable here.

3. Listen to “pretty Isn’t pretty” and “ballad of a homeschooled girl” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Mean Girls” by Katseye, “Hey Girl” by Anne Wilson, “Mean Girls” by Leanna Crawford, and last but certainly not least, “episode 5: Self-Love” by Trying Not To Care, hosted by Ashley Corbo. And if you don’t enjoy this type of music or don’t like podcasts you can simply read the lyrics and closed captions with volume down.

TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Trigger warnings that don’t bother me that much but may bother some of you. “ballad of a homeschooled girl” by Olivia Rodrigo does have two minor cuss words. And “episode 5: Self-Love” by Trying Not To Care, hosted by Ashley Corbo, does have cussing, but it’s not outrageous. Keep in mind that she is also not a Christian. I am only recommending this episode because it is a great message about insecurities.
